The Department of Trade and Industry will soon commence with public consultations on the draft Liquor Amendment Bill, 2016. This follows a review of the national liquor policy as government needed to, amongst others, adopt a comprehensive and coordinated approach to deal with the social harm resulting from alcohol abuse. The Liquor Amendment Bill seeks to effect amendments to the Liquor Act, 2003 (Act 59 of 2003).
