Market Your Food and Beverage Products at the Annapoorna - World of Food 2009 Trade Fair

Participate in the South African National Pavilion Exhibition from 25-27 November 2009, in Mumbai, India

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) invites exporters and potential exporters in the food and beverage market to apply to participate in the Annapoorna - World of Food 2009 international exhibition, scheduled to take place from 25-27 November 2009 in Mumbai, India.

The Annapoorna - World of Food exhibition is an annual event, which seeks to encourage growth in the global food and beverage market. The 2008 World of Food event was a resounding success, attracting ± 5,258 trade visitors from 32 countries, and boasting 200 Indian and international exhibitors.

The 2009 World of Food fair will focus on 'organic food' and cover the following product groups:

  • Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks;
  • Bread and baked products;
  • Conserves and spices;
  • Fine, health and baby foods;
  • Food additives and ingredients;
  • Fish, shellfish and seafood products;
  • Frozen food products;
  • Fruit and vegetable products;
  • Grocery products;
  • Meat and poultry;
  • Milk, dairy and ice cream products;
  • Organic food;
  • Raw material;
  • Rice and rice products; and
  • Sweets and confectionery.
In partnership with Bakery Review, the Society of India Bakers and BakeriesZone.com, the 2009 exhibition will place particular emphasis on the sales potential of the bakery industry, and the design of bakeries and related products, dubbed the 'Future Bakery'.

As this is a late addition to the dti National Pavilions 2009/10 calendar, the dti will only be able to accommodate 10 (ten) firms at the Annapoorna - World of Food 2009 exhibition. Nevertheless, as part of the dti's efforts to encourage the introduction of local products into foreign markets, the 10 South African qualifying exporters stand to benefit from the following financial support:

  • Air travel assistance - (Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and Previously Disadvantaged Individual (PDI) firms only);
  • Daily subsistence allowance (SMMEs and PDI firms only);
  • Freight-forwarding of display materials; and
  • Exhibition space and booth rental costs.
