Recognising that increasing the level of employment in SA is of paramount importance
to the overall health of the economy, the dti Awards look to organisations that are
rising to the challenge of job creation. In many ways this is one of the most important
categories in that companies that are able to attract and retain employees are generally
highly admired and recognised as leaders in their respective sectors.
Recognising Excellence
In the area of Job Creation and Retention, the dti recognises companies and
organisations that actively pursue job creation and retention goals, and fulfil

retain and create jobs
Where possible, find and use appropriate technologies that enhance job
creation and or labour intensity
Put in place specific programmes to retain jobs and reduce the negative impact
of unavoidable job losses
Navigate past major obstacles by seeking innovative ways to overcome hurdles
Find mechanisms to share the lesions learned with other enterprises
