Manufacturing Excellence Award

  1. Introduction

At the core of succeeding as a manufacturer is developing a good product and producing it to high and consistent quality standards in a competitive manner. Conceptually this is easily understandable. Making it a reality requires a multi-disciplinary approach and a range of efforts from the enterprise.

Quality control and making the standard on the local and international scale, are all critical determinants to success.

  2. Recognising Excellence

Excellence in manufacturing as a quantifiable entity is not a one-dimensional concept, but needs to be recognised across a number of drivers. In terms of the Awards, the dti is looking for companies that have excelled in a combination of the following:
    • Developing innovative new products that go further towards meeting customer expectations
    • Establishing and applying quality systems
    • Striving for continuous improvement of products and processes
    • Developing human resources to ensure quality and creating opportunities for staff to give input into improvements
    • Using technology effectively to enhance cost competitiveness, quality and innovation
    • Committing to social and environmental responsibility and striving towards sustainable production, in order to be sustainable in the long term.
