SA Business Delegation Arrives in Lubumbashi to Seek Investment and Export opportunities

The South African business delegation has arrived in Lubumbashi for the second leg of the Initiative and Trade and Investment (ITI) organised and funded by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti). The ITI which, started in Kinshasa on Monday will continue today in the mining capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) till Saturday, 11 November 2018.

The ITI will assist in building relationships between South Africa and the DRC companies and also increase exports of the South Africa value-added goods to the DRC market.

The business delegation will again participate in various business-to-business meetings, site visits and trade and investment seminars.

Welcoming the business delegates to Lubumbashi, the Governor of the Haut-Katanga, Mr Pande Kapopo Celestin said South African businesspeople are welcome in the province which is the main source of revenue in country.

Celestin said investment opportunities were abundant in the province especially in the mining and agricultural sector, where South Africa’s expertise was needed to advance the economy of the country.

The Business Developer of Smith Capital Equipment in Germiston, Mr Thabo More said as a manufacture of mining equipment, Lubumbashi presents opportunities for their underground and surface equipment that can see them expand to the Katanga Province.

The producers of drill pipes, shanks and rods among other things, indicated that their goal in the southern part of the DRC is to meet contractors, mining houses and local mining companies.
