Minister Davies Endorses ITAC Recommendation for an Increase of Import Duties for Sugar 
The Minister of Trade & Industry, Dr Rob Davies has endorsed the International Trade Admiration Commission (ITAC) recommendation for an increase of import duties on sugar to US$680/ton. This follows an application launched by SASA to ITAC in February 2018 for an increase of dollar based duty from US$566/ton to US$856/ton and intensive investigation by ITAC.

B-BBEE Commission Calls for Government and Private Sector to Increase Number of Women on Boards and Procurement Spend from 30% Black Women Owned Businesses
The report produced by the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Commission (?B-BBEE Commission?) on the national status and trends on broad-based black economic transformation for 2017 calendar year shows that JSE listed companies have only 38% representation by black people on their boards, with males accounting for 20% while females stand at 18%. The report shows a decline in black ownership by 5.75% and black female ownership by 1.96% compared to the 2016 report.
