The purpose of this offering is to reduce costs on imported products and increased global competitiveness. The process involves the following steps:

  • Acknowledgement of receipt and registration
  • Assessment of completeness and correctness
  • Prepare submission for ITAC consideration
  • Consideration by ITAC
  • Prepare notice of application for publication in Government Gazette
  • Publication in Government Gazette
  • Receive objections and refer to applicant for comment
  • Prepare final submission to ITAC containing all relevant information
  • Compile ITAC Report
  • Submit Report to ITAC Chief Commissioner for signature
  • Submit Report to Minister of Trade and Industry
  • Implementation by SARS of ITAC 's recommendations by way of amendment to the Customs and Excise Act, 1964.
