The process involves the following steps:
- Acknowledgement of receipt
- Assessment of completeness and correctness
- Acceptance of properly documented petition
- Notify foreign governments of investigation
- Verification of domestic industry's information
- Merit assessment by BTT
- Prepare Government Gazette notice
- Initiation in Government Gazette
- Receive submissions from importers, exporters, foreign governments
- Verification of importers' and exporters' information
- Preliminary determination by BTT
- Compile preliminary report
- Implementation by SARS of provisional payments
- Receive comments on preliminary report
- Prepare final submission to Board containing all relevant information
- Final determination by BTT
- Compile final report
- Recommendation to Minister of Trade and Industry
- Implementation by SARS of anti-dumping duties
